Stretch mark camouflage is a form
of medical tattooing for stretch marks in which we camouflage the stretch mark with different color flesh tone pigments. The technique used at Skinspiration is called Brazilian Stretch Mark Camouflage. Each mixture to achieve a tone similar to that of the client’s skin is custom blended. The ink is then tattooed into the stretch mark. This method does not remove the stretch mark. This method camouflages and blends the stretch mark area to be more consistent in color, with the surrounding skin.
Scar camouflage is similar to stretch mark camouflage that we add pigments matched to your particular skin to make the scar color blend with the surrounding skin. Not all scars are created equally, therefore some scars are not good candidates for this treatment, such as keloid scars or severe burn scars. Clients with cosmetic/plastic surgery scars and other injurious scars are great candidates. During your consultation an appropriate assessment will be determined for each scar needing to be treated.

Stretch mark camouflage is a form
of medical tattooing for stretch marks and scars in which we camouflage the identified areas with different color flesh tone pigments. The intended purpose is to disguise, not remove the stretch mark, which is essentially a type of scar. The technique used at Skinspiration is called Brazilian Stretch Mark Camouflage, which corrects pigmentation of the desired area. All stretch marks must be lighter in color than the surrounding skin and a minimum of 2 years old.
The amount of time is dependent upon the size of the area that is being treated and client comfort level during the treatment. An area the size of a dollar bill could take up to 45 minutes. Client forms, preparation of the skin and color formulation is additional time that has to be taken into account as well. During your consultation an appropriate length of time for the procedure will be determined.
Most clients will experience some discomfort which is normal and similar to traditional tattoo methods. Unfortunately topical numbing creams can not be used to numb the area in order to not disrupt the pigment.
Immediately after the treatment, the area will look red, have some swelling and may be sore. Most swelling should resolve within 24-48 hours. For the first 7 days it should be covered, kept clean and it’s recommended to not exercise during the initial 7 days, in order not to introduce bacteria into the area and allow the pigment to settle. Clients should also avoid exposing the area to sunlight for at least 60 days to allow for proper healing. The initial redness will start to fade as you complete each post treatment day and the skin starts the healing process, which will initiate more changes of the skin. The skin will go thru several phases until fully healed and camouflages with the surrounding skin.
This treatment is not an overnight solution and requires time to achieve a final result. It is possible to see results as soon as 45 days, but again it depends on your skin type, the area treated, how ones‘ body heals itself and the after care of the area. Full results of a treatment session can take approximately 60-120 days to see a final result. Some will see results sooner and some will take longer than the 120 days, which is client dependent. Also taking care of the area and following after care instructions will help with seeing desired results. Remember, your treatment area may scab up, and go thru several phases of healing, color change and requires time to heal like any regular tattoo treatment. Final results will provide approximately 10-15 years of coverage, before a touch up is needed due to fading, like traditional applications of pigment. This is dependent on how much fading occurs to the pigment throughout the years. What to expect during the course of the process will be provided on after care instructions.
Cost all depends on the size of the area needing treatment and the severity of the stretch marks. Severe areas and some clients may require additional treatments and/or a touchup of the same area to achieve the desired results. To get a detailed estimate on any service, book a consultation for an appropriate assessment.
The actual injection process takes approximately 10-30 minutes, depending on the number of injections. Your specialist will discuss your treatment goals and perform a facial analysis to determine the appropriate treatment areas for you. Some patients report that being injected with BOTOX® Cosmetic feels like a pinch. Your specialist may use ice to numb the treatment area. Or, if you are concerned about discomfort, your specialist may apply a topical numbing cream before administering your treatment.
Treatment requires minimal downtime. So you can return to your daily routine immediately after you leave your specialist’s office.
You may begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours, with results lasting up to four months for moderate to severe frown lines. Remember that results vary from patient to patient. Some will experience discomfort and bruising at or around the injection sites which will resolve.
You will experience minor discomfort during the injection of fillers. Topical anesthetics applied to the skin before the procedure can minimize needle stick pain. But most fillers are viscous so when they are injected they stretch the skin causing injection pain. Good news hyaluronic acid fillers containing lidocaine are utilized to minimize discomfort. Studies showed that patients injected with these fillers had signficantly less injection pain during the procedure. Both Restylane and Juvederm now have lidocaine containing products and these are gaining favor as they are more comfortable to inject.
The results from dermal fillers are noticeable immediately and get better over time as any side effects diminish. Most results last from about six months to over a year depending on which treatment you receive.
Botox & Filler before/after-care information will be reviewed during your consultation prior to your actual treatment appointment. Some items to avoid are blood thinning agents such as aspirin, garlic, ginkgo B, fish oils and alcohol. Medical history, items to avoid and how to prepare will be discussed within the appropriate timeframe of your upcoming appointment.
